It's Snowing and it's Thanksgiving in Canada!

It's Snowing and it's Thanksgiving in Canada!

Well, it's finally hit.  We all know that it is just a matter of time in these parts - we woke up to a white-covered ground and the largest possible snowflakes gently falling!

We are celebrating Thanksgiving here in Canada this weekend.  I guess we can give thanks to another fairly successful harvest season completed once again and grain in the bins.  We have a large grain farm here and have pretty much wrapped up for this year.  I guess it's a good thing, with the snow.  It very likely won't stick around, though, and I'm sure we will have some long fall days yet before the snow stays for good.  So the skiers and snowmobilers will have to wait for another month or two yet before getting too gong-ho!

I would like to "publicly" give thanks for the many blessings we have in our lives.  As I said, there is grain in the bins (I'm sure that sounds SO "redenck - backwoods - simple" to many of you reading this.)  Another year of farming has passed without major incidents or injury to any family and our workers here.  That garden has been brought in - put in the freezer, the cellar, the canning jars.  We have plenty to eat and enough money to get by.  I am blessed with a loving, healthy family that is full of laughter (some of my family members tend to think they're pretty "witty", and they really are, although we can't let them know!)  The laughter is SO important in our lives - it relieves stress, exhaustion on long days, tension and much more.  And we have dreams.  No one can take those away from us and they are vitally important as we go through life, particularly on the "bad days".

I am not going to think about or discuss business today, and it feels really good not to do so.  Somehow it just seems far to shallow on a day of true reflection, when we know in our hearts we are already truly blessed.  It would just seem greedy to ask for anything more.

I wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving and my hope for all of you is that "your grain bins are full", you are also blessed with loving, healthy families and truly have everything important in your lives, too.
